Today. . .

. . . was Mary's last day at work before her surgery on Wednesday. Her work-buddies are taking her out on the town for some fun and relaxation tonight. Good deal. =)

I went to the gym today and feel good. I've planned that tomorrow will be a double workout - gym in the morning, walking in the afternoon - but I'll see if that happens. It's also the Avon "Great Starts Party" in Manhattan, which I'm really looking forward to. I'm hoping to connect with experienced walkers and crew, learn new things about fundraising and meet new people and share stories. Plus, I think there's gonna be food, so that makes everything all-good.

TGIF!

Thursday

Today was a slow day for me. . . which means the only training I did was walking up-and-down stairs and lugging my laundry cart to the laundromat and back. In the ice.

I'm hurting, which is why I really MUST do some yoga this evening. I need to hit the gym tomorrow and Saturday morning before the "Great Starts Party".

Tea and Sympathy

I drink a great deal of tea. . . herbal, black, green, you name it, I've probably tried it.

I'm currently on a ginger tea kick to get over some nose/throat complaints I've been having, in addition to soothing an upset tummy on occasion. My tea-of-choice has been Yogi Tea because that's the first brand I encountered three years ago when I was searching for a natural tummy remedy tea and couldn't find plain ginger.

Yogi Teas offer words of wisdom on the tabs at the ends of the strings of their teabags. Today's cuppa offered this quote:

Man's power is in his prayer. And where prayer goes, God follows.

Training Update

Brrr! If you're in the northeast this month, you know how I've been feeling. . . COLD!

But the arctic air isn't stopping me from training.

Although I can't train outside because it's too dark and cold when I get home from the office, I've been going to the gym regularly for my circuit training. Soon I will be adding treadmill workouts to help build my base mileage to about 4-8 miles per week, once the warmer weather hits.

My training goals may be big, but I'm making progress!

Response

Thank you again to all of you who have responded so positively to my requests for support, both emotional and financial (your donations, of course), as I prepare for the Avon Walk New York. It's become my extra motivation on days when I don't feel so well or don't feel like I can face another workout. . . your donations say that you believe that I not only can do this, but I will do it, and I thank you for your support.

I will be attending a 'Great Starts Party' this Saturday in Manhattan to get more information about the New York walk, meet other walkers and walker-buddies and get more fundraising and training ideas and information. I plan to post my thoughts about that in another audio post. Isn't technology amazing?
