GREAT News. . .

I have now updated my fundraising goal to $2500 because of the continued willingness to make a donation . . . and take a stand against breast cancer . . . that I've found in my circle of acquaintance.

As of this morning, I have officially raised $1925 and have an additional donation on the way. . . Wow.

Thank you all for making the commitment to bring hope to the families, friends and survivors who have been touched by this disease.

My feet are 1,000% behind you! =)

What a Weekend!

Between the Walk Expo on Saturday and the Get Ready Walk on Sunday, my weekend was FABULOUS despite the heat and humidity.

I got to confirm my suspicion about the tents . . . I can put one up in my sleep. . . check out a free mini yoga class (AWESOME!) and get fitted for a pair of sneakers. . . all before lunch!

At any rate, one of the sponsors of the Walk is the Ryka shoe company. I didn't believe that their shoes would work out for me, because I normally wear a width and the shoes they offer in a motion control model don't run in wide, but. . .ahhhh. I picked up a pair at Lady Foot Locker to try on. . . and they felt like walking on clouds. So I bought a pair to replace my day-in-day-out Brooks. And saved some money to boot. . .the Brooks run about $105, the Rykas run about $80; I had a $10 coupon from Avon. . . so I saved $35.

I wore my new sneakers on my training walk yesterday. And my feet swelled. . . but the toe box didn't feel the least bit narrow. The only problem I had with them was at the bottom of the tongue in the left shoe, but I'm sure that I'll be able to fix that with no problem.

My next step in training is to get out during the week. If Mom was running about 40 miles per week when training for the NYC Marathon, and I'm planning to walk that PLUS half, I'd best get my butt in gear.

This morning, I felt GREAT, my knee, although it was a little stiff, wasn't as bad as it was when we walked to Shea Stadium, so I'm chalking that up to the new shoes.
