News Flash - Mary Update

I spoke to my dad yesterday and learned that although the past two weeks have been rough for Mary, with a lot more not-so-good news than good news, she got some good news yesterday.

Her surgeon was concerned that her flap on one side wasn't healing properly, so there was a chance that she'd have to go back into surgery to have it corrected, because tissue is dying. Yesterday, he examined her and noted that new tissue is growing in and she's healing a lot better.

She still may need to get the other tissue removed, but she won't have to face another looooooong surgery.

This is GOOD news and has made Dad feel a lot better, so I'm sure Mary feels a lot better now, too.

Thank you again for all the prayers and good vibes you're all sending to Mary. They're really working hard!

Mo' Money. . .

Wow. Even before I started training in earnest, I've hit the $1050 mark. . . with another Valrie request for more coupons!

Woo-hoo! $1800 will come and go before we're through!

Thank you for your support!

A GRAND!

I have passed the $1000 mark on word-of-mouth donations alone.

For once, I am beyond thrilled that my mother is the eldest of 7 because this gives me an extensive extended family, from whom I have received 3 generous donations and heaps of encouragement and well-wishes for both me and my step-mom.

This is one of those things that just brings people together. =)

222 Days Left. . .

. . . and I'm at $980 (or 54% of the minimum).

Keep in mind that this amount has been raised solely through word-of-mouth donations and 1st-and 2nd-degree contacts - relatives, friends, coworkers - and each and every donation is valuable to my effort.

In March, new training walks will be starting up, and I think I might want to get some additional information about becoming a training walk leader. . .but maybe next year would be the best time to do that.

I suppose that I've been rather fortunate in that my fundraising efforts have been met with enthusiasm and words of encouragement, and each response has been a wonderful gift. Those folks who are unable to donate at this time have been kind enough to promise to send good wishes, prayers and good vibes out to my step-mom and I, to speed her recovery and keep my training on track. . . offers which are absolutely priceless and equally welcome.

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has been keeping Mary and I in your thoughts and prayers. We wouldn't be where we are without all of you.
